Lily Pulitzer developed the idea with her dresses when working at a juice shop with her husband that they owned. She found that day after day the juice making was messy. She designed a dress with lots of bright colors so that the stains would be less noticeable. She found that people loved her dress. She then kept designing and her "juice maker dress" would later become on her clothing line as her "Classic Shift Dress".
